Rev. Janie Spahr’s Church Trial to Begin Soon
The Rev. Jane Adams Spahr — Janie — our Minister Director Emeritus — is facing new charges in a church trial as a result of officiating at the weddings of eleven same-gender couples in California while it was legal.
A service of worship and inspiration will be held on Sunday, August 22 in San Rafael, California, with preachers Ray Bagnuolo and our Minister Coordinator Lisa Larges. The trial itself will be held in Napa, California, beginning Tuesday morning, August 24. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend in person if able.
If you are unable to be there, there are a number of ways that you can find more information:
- A website dedicated to the trial, with all of the stories about the couples, etc.
- Likewise, a Facebook page, Rev. Janie Spahr Charged Again by Presbyterian Church has been set up
- Our Facebook page, That All May Freely Serve
- Follow on Twitter at @tamfs, @SonnieLive, and @RevJaneSpahr (we’ll let you know the Twitter hashtag and others who will be posting soon)
Of course, contributions to Janie’s defense fund can be made online. Be sure to add a note that this is for Janie. Trials such as this are quite expensive. Thanks for your help.
