Committee Passes Authoritative Interpretation

Passes! The Civil Union and Marriages Committee passed 10-03, agreeing to send a recommendation to the General Assembly for a full vote that will give pastors permission to perform marriages for all – by a vote of 51-18 in favor. This is the Authoritative Interpretation motion. If there is a majority vote in the plenary session later this week – the recommendation goes into effect immediately, eliminating restrictions on pastors to perform marriages for same gender couples. I feel like I should write this again, just so it sinks in for me…maybe for you, too!Â
